Are You Unequally Yoked?

2 Corinthians 6:14,Do not be tied together with unbelievers. For what association does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what fellowship does light have with darkness?” SOMB

2 Corinthians 6:14,Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” SOTVKJV

Paul tells us not to be tied up with unbelievers, those who do not know or obey Torah, lawless ones; those who do not have faith in Yehowah, idolaters. Where did Paul ever get such an idea? I believe Yehowah gave me a quick peek into the realm of the Ruach and showed me that Paul’s concept came straight out of the Torah.

Deuteronomy 7:1-4, “When Yehowah your Divine One brings you into the land that you go to possess, he will drive out many ethnicities before you, the Hethites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven ethnicities greater and mightier than you. 2It is Yehowah your Divine One who gives them over to you when you defeat them, and then you must completely destroy them. You will make no covenant with them, and show them no mercies. 3Neither will you arrange any marriages with them. You will not give your daughters to their sons, and you will not take their daughters for your sons. 4For they will turn away your sons from following me, so that they may worship false deities. So the anger of Yehowah will be kindled against you, and he will destroy you quickly.” The children of Israel were not to have any close interpersonal relationships with anyone of a foreign pagan lineage. They were not to have any marital relations or marriage covenant with any unbelieving foreigners. Such close relationships would draw them away from following Yehowah, thus turning the Israelites into idolaters rather than Yehowah worshipers.

Numbers 25:1-3, “Israel stayed in Shittim, and the men began to prostitute themselves with women of Moab, 2for the Moabites had invited the people to the sacrifices to their deities. So the people ate and bowed down to Moabite deities. 3The men of Israel joined in worshiping Baal of Peor, and Yehowah’s anger was kindled against Israel.” Baal of Peor means Lord of the Gap, or Lord of the Opening. The Moabites included wild sexual acts and orgies as part of their demonic deity worship. The people of Israel were not to be associated with, mix with, or marry those of foreign pagan lineage. Yehowah knew that foreigners that did not know or obey him would lead his people away from proper Yehowah worship. Yes, they did it, and it angered Yehowah. See what Moses wrote about this incident many years later in Deuteronomy 4:3, “Your eyes have seen what Yehowah did because of Baal Peor; for all the men who followed Baal of Peor, Yehowah your Divine One has destroyed them from among you.” This is the conduct that the Apostle Paul was warning the Corinthian Messianic congregation about.

Paul goes on to explain to the end of Chapter 6:15-18, “What agreement can Messiah have with Satan (Belial)? Or what share does a believer have together with an unbeliever? 16And what agreement is there between the temple of Yehowah and idols? For we are the temple of living Yehowah, just as Yehowah said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their Divine One, and they will be my people.”17Therefore, “Come out from among them, and be set apart,” says Yehowah (Rev. 18:4; Jer. 51:45). “Touch no impure thing (moral or religious), and I will welcome you. 18I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says Yehowah Almighty.” We can witness to such lost people, but we are not to have fellowship with, or a close relationship with, such people, unbelieving foreigners to the Commonwealth of Israel.

Some other First Covenant Scriptures that support Paul’s teaching: 1 Kings 11:3-6, “Solomon had seven hundred royal wives and three hundred concubines. His wives turned his heart away. 4For when Solomon grew old, his wives turned away his heart after false deities; his heart was not fully surrendered to Yehowah his Divine One, as was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon followed Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and he followed Milcom (abortion today), the disgusting idol of the Ammonites. 6Solomon did what was evil in the sight of Yehowah; he did not fully follow Yehowah, as David his father had done.” I don’t even want to speculate on where Solomon will end up in eternity.

Ezra 9:2, “For they have taken some of their daughters and sons, and have mixed the set-apart people with the people of other lands, and the officials and leaders have been first in this faithlessness.”

Ezra 9:14, “Should we again break your commandments and make mixed marriages with these abominable people? Will you not be angry and annihilate us, so there will be no one left, no one to escape?

Ezra 10:2, “Shekaniah son of Jehiel of the descendants of Elam said to Ezra, “We have been unfaithful to our Divine One and have married foreign women from the people of the other lands. But in spite of this, there is still hope for Israel.”

Ezra 10:44, “All of these had taken foreign wives and had children with some of them.” You want to have a peaceful blessed life? Don’t marry those of foreign pagan lineage. It’s OK to have a relationship with a foreigner who believes in Yehowah, just not unbelievers. This may sound racist to some, but this is not a racial teaching, it’s a faith teaching. Besides, there is only one race, humans. Marry those with like faith as you. Otherwise, your life may be filled with many griefs and troubles.

Nehemiah 13:3, “As soon as they heard the law, they separated out from Israel every person of foreign pagan lineage.”

Nehemiah 13:27, “Should we then listen to you and do all this great evil, and act treacherously against our Divine One by marrying women of foreign pagan lineage?” No, DO NOT seek close relationships with anyone of foreign pagan lineage. First, witness Yeshua to them, get them saved, then you have lawful grounds for a friendship, a relationship, or even marriage with a foreigner. We are required to marry within the Commonwealth of Israel. If you are of the ethnicities, and not a native Israeli, Jew, or Hebrew, then you must get born from above first and be grafted into the natural tree, Israel, Who is Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, Jesus Christ! He is the Root of the natural olive tree of Israel.
