BIBLE READING PLAN

Grandpa Gene’s Bible Reading Plan

First, read the Bible as food for your spirit, soul, and body. Feast upon His Set-apart Word!

I read 6 chapters per day, 7 days a week, as a minimum. I separate my reading by groups of Books of the Scriptures, as follows:

1 – Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. I begin with Genesis 1:1 and read one chapter per day. When I finish the end of Deuteronomy, I begin again at Genesis 1:1.

2 – History: Joshua through Esther. I read 1 chapter per day, and once I finish Esther, I begin again with Joshua 1:1.

3 – Poetry or Writings: Job through Song of Solomon. I read 1 chapter per day, and once I finish Song of Solomon, I begin again with Job 1:1.

4 – Prophets: Isaiah through Malachi. I read 1 chapter per day, and once I finish Malachi, I begin again with Isaiah 1:1.

5 – Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I read 1 chapter per day, and once I finish John, I begin again with Matthew 1:1.

6 – New Covenant writings: Acts through Revelation. I read 1 chapter per day, and once I finish Revelation, I begin again with Acts 1:1.

So, I read 6 chapters per day, 7 days per week. That makes 42 chapters per week for 52 weeks per year = 2,184 chapters per year. There are 1,189 chapters in the Bible, so I ALMOST read through the Bible twice per year. This works for me, because I have my Bible divided in my mind into 6 logical reading groups.

Reading 7 chapters per day gives you 49 chapters per week, so that would work for reading through the Bible TWICE per year. If you can handle 7 chapters per day, may I suggest you read 1 chapter from the Apocrypha, like Maccabees. And/or 1 chapter from the Book of Enoch, or the Book of Jasher, or the Book of Jubilees. All good reading.

Reading 4 chapters per day gives you 28 chapters per week, so that would work to read the Bible through ONCE per year.

So on DAY ONE of this journey, you will read Genesis 1, Joshua 1, Job 1, Isaiah 1, Matthew 1, and Acts 1 (7 chapters/day readers read 1 Maccabees 1). Begin to read your Bible today, no matter which day of the year it is. Don’t wait, fill up on the Word today! I will try to put this Plan as a PDF onto our Downloads page also.
