IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN
A quick introduction to the Biblical Solar Calendar
Yeshua used the terms “It has been written” when He battled HaSatan in the wilderness while fasting for 40 days and 40 nights. It would behoove us to use these same terms when searching for and defending the truth of Yahweh’s Word. We will do just a little of this in today’s post regarding Yahweh’s biblical solar calendar. To defeat the devil’s temptations, Yeshua quoted verses from the Torah three times on His final day of testing in the wilderness. See Matthew 4:1-11 for the details.
Numbers 10:10 TS98, “And in the day of your gladness, and in your appointed times, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets [two silver trumpets from verse 2] over your burnt offerings and over your peace offerings. And they shall be a remembrance[zikron, memorial, reminder] for you before your Elohim. I am יהוהyour Elohim.”
Numbers 28:11-14 TS98, “‘And on the beginnings of your months you bring near a burnt offering to יהוה: two young bulls and one ram, and seven lambs a year old, perfect ones; 12three-tenths of an ĕphah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull; two-tenths of an ĕphah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13and one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of sweet fragrance, an offering made by fire to יהוה.
14‘And their drink offering is half a hin of wine for a bull, and one-third of a hin for a ram, and one-fourth of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering for each month [chodesh chodesh, month by month] throughout the months of the year,”
2 Chronicles 31:2-4 HRB, “And Hezekiah made stand the courses of the priests and of the Levites, by their divisions, each according to his service, of the priests and of the Levites, for burnt offerings, and for peace offerings, to serve and to give thanks, and to give praise in the gates of the camps of YAHWEH. 3And the king’s portion from his substance was for burnt offerings, for burnt offerings of the morning and the evening [daily oblation offerings]; and the burnt offerings of the Sabbaths, and of the new moons[a Torah compliant translation would be:beginnings of your months, chodeshim #2320], and of the appointed seasons, as it was written in the Torah of YAHWEH[See Num. 28:11-14 above].4And he commanded the people, those who lived in Jerusalem, to give the portion of the priests and of the Levites, in order that they might be made strong in the Law of YAHWEH.”
Notice Numbers 10:10 above, you see that there were offerings to be made at the beginning of each month (It does NOT say at the beginning of each new moon. NEVER in the Pentateuch is the term new moon used.), accompanied by the blowing of the two silver trumpets. Have you ever wondered what was being memorialized at the beginning of each month? With a little searching you can find one significant beginning of the month event in the life of the newly born nation of Israel during their wilderness experience after the Exodus from Egypt. Exodus 40:1-2, 17-19TS98, “And יהוהspoke to Mosheh, saying, 2“On the first day of the first month, you are to raise up the Dwelling Place of the Tent of Meeting,”” . . . “And it came to be in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the Dwelling Place was raised up. 18And Mosheh raised up the Dwelling Place and placed its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its columns, 19and spread the tent over the Dwelling Place and put the covering of the tent on top of it, as יהוהhad commanded Mosheh.” Exodus 40:34-35 HRB, “And the cloud covered the tabernacle of the congregation; and the glory of YAHWEH filled the tabernacle. 35And Moses was not able to come into the tabernacle of the congregation because the cloud dwelt on it. And the glory of YAHWEH filled the tabernacle.”
Yahweh came down to dwell among Israel, in the midst of their camp, in the Tabernacle Moses built for Him. Now, I ask you, would that event be a significant enough event that Yahweh wanted Israel to remember this glorious day on the first of every month, perpetually? I believe that is exactly what the Scriptures reveal. When Yahweh shows up to live among you, or in you, that would mark a day on our calendar as a holy day, don’t you think? Yahweh Himself sanctified the first day of each month with His very Presence.
Look closely at this brief history of Israel, from day 1 of year 1 of the Exodus, when Yahweh resynchronized Israel with His calendar in Exodus 12:1-2 TS98, “And יהוהspoke to Mosheh and to Aharon in the land of Mitsrayim, saying, 2“This month is the beginning of months for you, it is the first month of the year for you.”” To the setting up of the Tabernacle on day 1 year 2 of the Exodus found in Exodus 40, Yahweh ONLY used the word chodesh in the sense of a month, NEVER in the sense of a New Moon, or lunar based calendar. The calendar used by Yahweh and Yeshua has ALWAYS been a solar calendar, NEVER a lunar calendar. That is how it has been written from the beginning of created time in Genesis 1:1.
The word chodesh is used 283 times in the Tanakh. According to one of the laws of interpretation, the Law of First Mention, and the Law of Second Mention if you will, and the Law all the way up to and including the first 86 mentions of Chodesh in the Torah, it is translated as month. NOT ONCE in the Law of Moses, the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Scriptures, was the word chodesh translated as new moon. NOT ONCE!! Is that not the Torah precedent? We will have to ask the lying pen of the scribes (Jer. 8:8-9), the lunar biased translators, and the Greek minded translators why they mistranslated chodesh as new moon in other Scriptures. According to the Word of Yahweh, as you have just read above, chodesh means month. In the first two Scripture references that use the word chodesh, Gen. 7:11 and 8:4, during the cataclysm of Noah’s Flood, chodesh is used twice in each verse, and both verses are speaking of the 17th day of the month, a waning moon, if you’re a lunar moonie, which in no known universe could be considered anything remotely close to a new moon. Therefore, I declare to you that Gen. 7:11 and 8:4 are recorded dates on Yahweh’s biblical solar calendar!! You can learn a lot about Yahweh and His solar calendar, just by checking out His date stamps throughout the Word.
If you would like to gain more technical knowledge about the biblical solar calendar that Yahweh and Yeshua used, go to Kimberly Dubois’ site at www.setapartime.com and Rob Moore’s site at www.inthatday.net. For now, I would rather enjoy Yahweh’s calendar, than get all technical with you, because I am still learning about this calendar also. On that note, let’s go to Matthew 4:1-11 and see how the biblical solar calendar may have played into the temptation of Messiah. Matthew 4:1-11 HRB, “Then Yahshua was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted by the Devil. 2And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards He hungered. 3And coming near to Him, the accuser said, If You are the Son of YAHWEH, speak that these stones may become loaves. 4But answering, He said, It has been written “Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of YAHWEH.” (Deut. 8:3) 5Then the accuser takes Him to the holy city, and he set Him on the pinnacle of the sanctuary. 6and he said to Him, If You are the Son of YAHWEH, throw Yourself down; for it has been written “He shall give His cherubs charge concerning You, and they shall bear You on their hands, lest You strike Your foot against a stone.” (Psa. 91:11, 12) 7Yahshua said to him, Again it has been written “You shall not test YAHWEH your Elohim.” (Deut. 6:16) 8Again the Devil takes Him to a very high mountain, and shows to Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9And said to Him. I will give all these things to You if falling down, You will worship me. 10Then Yahshua said to him, Go, Satan! For it has been written “You shall worship YAHWEH your Elohim, and Him only shall you serve.” (Deut. 6:13) 11Then the accuser left Him. And behold! Cherubs came near and ministered to Him.”
At this time of year, brother Judah is in their sixth lunar month of Elul, a month of repentance, prayer and fasting, up to the 10th of the 7th lunar month of the Jews, Yom Kippur. Forty days and forty nights of introspection and repentance. Some believe Yeshua did His forty day fast during this time of year. It’s a possibility, but let’s look at this time period from the biblical solar calendar perspective. The sixth month on Yahweh’s biblical solar calendar has 31 days, not 30 days, like the Jews’ lunar month of Elul has. So, if Yeshua had begun his fast on 6-1, and fasted for forty days and nights, He would have finished His fast at sundown on 7-9, the day BEFORE Yom Kippur, actually, right at the sundown that BEGAN Yom Kippur!! And look at verse 2 of Matthew 4 above, Yeshua wasn’t really hungry until AFTER the forty days and nights, which would have been EXACTLY ON the day of Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement!! And what did Yeshua do on that particular Yom Kippur? He kicked the devil’s butt by quoting the written Torah of Yahweh. He overcame Satan on Yom Kippur, not just for His own sake, but for your sakes also!! Yeshua’s living self-denying sacrifice on this particular Yom Kippur was an atonement for you, my dear reader! Romans 5:8-11 HRB, “but YAHWEH commends His love to us in this that we being yet sinners, Messiah died for us. 9Much more then, being justified now by His blood, we shall be delivered from wrath through Him. 10For if while being enemies we were reconciled to YAHWEH through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life; 11and not only so, but also glorying in YAHWEH through our Master Yahshua Messiah, through whom we now received the atonement.” My friends, Yeshua not only fulfilled the Fall Feast of Yom Kippur through His execution on a tree, He began fulfilling it while He walked in the flesh at the beginning of His ministry!! Praise His holy Name forevermore!! Yeshua was showing us how to overcome the devil with His Word, how to live in the flesh using the Torah!! So, when the devil tempts you in your pride, just thrust the living sWord into his heart and slice a couple times for good measure.
The first day of the seventh month is just around the corner, beginning at sundown on September 17, 2013 CE, per Yahweh’s biblical solar calendar. Will you take a moment to blow your trumpet and remember that now, today, in the 21st century, Yahweh doesn’t just live among us, He lives right inside of us, through His precious Holy Spirit! Get ready for the Fall Feasts of Yahweh by repenting of your sin today, pray for yourself, your friends and family, your enemies and colleagues, and especially for your political and ministerial leaders around the globe. Work at being reconciled to those you have broken fellowship with. Yeshua will more than likely return to earth on a future 7-1, Feast of Trumpets. Will you be ready to herald Him as your King? Sure, blow your trumpets on 7-1, but acknowledge Yahweh everyday and let Him know how much you appreciate all He does for you. We are saved by His life, not just by His death.
Shabbat Shalom,
Gene Benjamin II
