Lunar Sabbath Rebuttal 1
This is the basic reason I don’t follow the Lunar Sabbath at this time:
Joshua 5:10-12 (NKJV) “Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.” This would have been Abib 14, 1544 BCE, Julian Day number 1157592, a Thursday on Eugene Faulstich’s calendar program. Notice, manna was still provided on this day, per verse 12.
“11And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day.” This would have been Abib 15, 1544 BCE, Julian Day number 1157593, a Friday. Notice, manna was still provided on this day, per verse 12, so I believe this was the double portion Fri-day.
What I want you to notice, is that even if Abib 15 WAS NOT A FRIDAY, manna was provided on that day, THE 15TH DAY OF THE FIRST LUNAR MONTH of that year, so you see the 15th COULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE SABBATH THAT WEEK, BECAUSE FRESH MANNA WAS NEVER DELIVERED TO EARTH ON THE SABBATH!!
“12Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.” This would have been Abib 16, 1544 BCE, Julian Day number 1157594, a Saturday, Shabbat!! This day ended exactly 2,084 weekly cycles (exactly 14,588 days, 40 years, plus 1 lunar month, of supernatural manna provision!) from Iyar 16, 1584 BCE, the first day manna was provided. Iyar 16, 1584 BCE was a Sunday, Julian Day number 1143007. 1157595 (Sunday after this last Sabbath of the Manna Miracle) minus 1143007 = 14,588 days / 7 = 2,084 perfect weeks of the manna test!
Notice that Yahweh began and ended the Manna Miracle Sabbath resynchronization project in the middle of the lunar month, not at a New Moon, nor at the so-called first lunar Sabbath of the month, 2-8 nor 1-8. That’s not insignificant. If Yahweh had wanted to resynchronize Israel with a Lunar Sabbath, He would have and could have done so. Iyar 15 (lunar month 2, lunar day 15) in the year of the Exodus (Exodus 16:1) was the Sabbath in that week, month, and year, but Abib 15 in the year of the Jordan River crossing was NOT a Sabbath day. You could argue that Abib 15 in the year of the Jordan River crossing was the weekly day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5, or day 6, BUT NOT DAY 7, because the manna DID NOT CEASE (end, rest, desist, repose) UNTIL THE NEXT DAY, Abib 16, per Joshua 5:12!! Enough said?
If you would like, you can read my studies on my blog, The Second Sunday and The Manna Miracle. Or, if you wish, I could send those to you. I researched about 200 years in ancient history, and the 1584 BCE to 1544 BCE combination of years is the ONLY one I’ve found that fits the Exodus/manna story! I would happily stand corrected if someone were to find some other year combination. Yahweh used the manna miracle to resynchronize Israel with His weekly Sabbath, it has not changed. I sync’d Abib 16, 1544 BCE, with Super Bowl weekend, 2013 CE and the days fit perfectly!!
Also, I really don’t see how you can justify creation week assumptions without Scripture, but we don’t have to argue over any of this, it is great discussion and study material!!
p.s. I forgot to ask you today, have you found, or do you use any calendar conversion computer software? Eugene Faulstich’s program is great, but it’s a 30-year old BASIC language piece! I like www.abdicate.net’s website, but it seems to produce errors. I haven’t found any Windows software to do the research I like to do. Any recommendations?
Shabbat Shalom,
