Psa 24:1, “The earth belongs to Yahweh, and the fullness of it; the world, and those who live in it.”
This is another one of those foundational principles in the realm of finance. Ownership versus Stewardship. Yahweh is the owner, we are just stewards, or asset managers. Stewardship is a faithfulness issue. We must be faithful with what our Master entrusts to our hands.
Yeshua taught this in the parable of the ten minas: Luk 19:11-27, “But as they were hearing these things, He spoke, adding a parable, because He was near to Jerusalem, and they thought that the kingdom of Yahweh was immediately to be revealed. 12Then He said: A certain well-born man went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and to return. 13And calling ten of his slaves, he gave to them ten minas and said to them, Trade and keep busy until I come. 14But the citizens of his city hated him and sent ambassadors after him. And they were saying, “We do not want this man to rule over us.” 15And it happened as he returned, having received the kingdom, he even said for those servants to be called to him, those to whom he gave the silver, that he might know what each had gained by trading. 16And the first came, saying, Master, your mina has gained ten minas. 17And he said to him, Well done, good slave! Because you were faithful in a least thing, have authority over ten cities. 18And the second came, saying, Master, your mina has made five minas. 19And he said to this one also, And you be over five cities. 20And another came, saying, Master, behold your mina which I have stored up in a facecloth. 21For I feared you, because you are a harsh man, taking what you did not lay down, and reaping what you did not sow. 22But he said to him, I will judge you out of your own mouth, wicked slave. You knew that I am a harsh man, taking what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow. 23And why did you not give my silver on the bank table? And coming, I might have exacted it with interest. 24And to those standing by he said, Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas. 25And they said to him, Master, he has ten minas. 26For I say to you, To everyone who has, it will be given. And from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 27But to those my enemies who did not desire that I rule over them, bring them and execute them before me!”
